Secret Room to Die For

The Christmas Book Club Book 2

She wants peace and quiet. She gets mystery, danger, and one infuriatingly handsome detective.

Tessa Kingsley has everything a lady could want—independence, wealth, a charming little bookstore to call her own, and an adoring cat who helps her run it. Best of all, she’s finally free of her scheming guardian’s clutches and the dreadful arranged marriage he once tried to force on her. She’s sworn off suitors forever, until a certain persistent Pinkerton agent refuses to leave town—or her thoughts.

Detective Bowen Taggert should be on a train to his next assignment, but something about Tessa makes him linger. Maybe it’s her wit. Maybe it’s her beauty. Or maybe it’s the mysterious noises echoing from her bookstore’s walls at night…he can’t resist a mystery.

He suspects someone is trying to scare her off, and he plans to find out why. Winning her trust might be harder than solving the case, but he’s a patient man with a heart as steady as his aim.

Curl up with this cozy mystery full of cattitude, nail-biting suspense, and a love story that refuses to stay shelved.

"This series is just plain fantastic! I love the vulnerability of the characters and in this story, Frost, the cat, is my favorite! Such human attributes! A better companion Tessa couldn't have found. Tessa feels like she's going crazy which is why she hasn't shared her troubles with her best friends. She sleepwalks, hears noises at night and was told by her guardian that he'd put her in an asylum! That's why she feels she'll never marry, even though she has a suitor in the handsome Pinkerton agent, Bowen Taggert. When she finally breaks down and tells her friends her secret, The Christmas Book Club is on the case!"

"Bea, Maisie and Tessa have the best book club and shenanigans! The suspense is so good, and I enjoy the clean aspect of the story. The suspense was off the charts, never letting up to the very end. Bowen is true to Tessa even though she 'rejected' him. It is a great story and another solid series from this author. I love her stories, they are always different and never disappoint. More stars needed!"

"A clean, faith-based, historical mystery/suspense, but there's romance too, with a HEA. I recommend this page-turner!"
